Hello,
I have an application that utilizes HCl at a concentration of about 32% and at 120C. I have tried Hastelloy C276 but the corrosion rate is too fast and polymer liners are not possible as the HCl vapors see to penetrate PFA liners. Could explain if the Ultra-Metal tantalum surface would work in this kind of environment?
Thanks David

Hello David,
For HCl applications there is no metal available that has a better corrosion resistance than tantalum metal. Our tantalum metal surfaces that are grown via Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) take advantage of this unique characteristic of tantalum.
For your particular application, you could see that attached HCl Iso-corrosion curve comparing the corrosion resistance of tantalum metal versus other highly
corrosion resistant metals. What you could see from the curve is that tantalum metal is orders or magnitude more corrosion resistant than than Hastelloy C276 at the conditions you are operating at. With that said, a Ultra-Metal tantalum surface would be excellent for your application.
