With Ultramet CPT’s technology we can protect equipment and eliminate strong acid corrosion with a tantalum surface that is diffused into the base material. Acid Resistant ReactorsAcid resistant reactors for chemical processing and laboratory use are often exposed to highly corrosive acid environments like hot concentrated sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and hyrdrochloric acid (HCl). To create acid resistant reactors, Ultramet CPT takes standard batch style reactors and grows a tantalum diffusion surface into and on top of the base material.

The end result is an acid resistant reactor that has the inertness of a glass lining but the strength, durability and thermal conductivity of a metal.

Acid Resistant Pipe Spools

Acid Resistant Pipe SpoolsAcid resistant pipe spools of any shape and size are created with the Ultramet CPT technology for hot strong acid applications like sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and hydrochloric acid (HCl). Because our technology creates a tantalum diffusion surface on the base pipe spool, the corrosion resistance of tantalum metal is achieved with the strength and availability of the base material (typically steel).

With an acid resistant pipe spools that exceeds the performance of specialty alloy pipe spools like nickel alloy, titanium or zirconium by many times at a cost similar to nickel, the Ultramet CPT solution is the highest performing and most cost effective solution for acid resistant pipe spools.

Tantalum Fasteners

Acid resistant tantalum fasteners, are produced with the Ultramet CPT tantalum diffusion surface technology for highly corrosive environments. Because we could utilize standard steel fasteners as the base material and then grow a corrosion resistant pure tantalum surface, a unique fastener is created with the strength of a stainless steel fastener and the corrosion resistance of tantalum.

This process is ideal for larger fasteners that are 1/2" and larger where solid tantalum is cost prohibitive or not mechanically strong enough.
