Hello,

I know Hastelloy C276 does reasonably well in clean H2SO4 but corrodes at a much faster rate when the H2SO4 get contaminated with impurities like ferric ions. Is the tantalum surface produced by Ultramet CPT susceptible to similar contaminates in H2SO4? If so what contaminates do I need to be concerned with?

Thanks
Dan

Hello Dan,

Unlike Hastelloy C276 or other engineering nickel alloys, tantalum is not susceptible to contaminates like ferric ions. Its corrosion rate is independent of contaminates as the tantalum surface is inert and does not react with its environment.
