Acid resistant thermowells are needed when measuring the temperature of strong hot acids. Unlike thermowells with tantalum sleeves, the Ultramet CPT process provides a tantalum surface that is grown into the base steel thermowell providing a permanent surface with no gaps between the tantalum and steel base. This is important for faster, more reliable and more accurate temperature measurements

The Ultra-Metal tantalum diffusion surface could be applied to stainless steel flanged, threaded or van stone thermowells making them the most corrosion resistant thermowells available to industry.   With our technology we grow a tantalum diffusion surface that simply eliminates corrosion from the strongest acids like sulfuric acid (H2SO4), hydrochloric acid (HCl), nitric acid, acetic acid and other strong corrosive acids and aggressive chemicals.
